The Village at Olde Stone is a Traditional Neighborhood Development (TND), a concept that originated and became very popular in the later 19th and early 20th centuries. In the mid 1980's the concept was reintroduced by two major developments in Florida, Seaside in the Destin area and Celebration in Orlando. The success of these large scale 1920's - like communities has led to the renaissance of this tried and true residential concept. Over the past five years, the TND movement has emerged as the most dynamic new trend in upscale housing throughout the United States.
In keeping with this exciting new movement back to the classic neighborhoods of yesteryear, Olde Stone will feature all the major components of a Traditional Neighborhood Development. The first involves creating a traditional neighborhood layout or infrastructure. This means designing and constructing a 1920's era streetscape which among other things includes sidewalks throughout the entire community on both sides of the street. In addition, Traditional Neighborhood Developments include wide grass aprons in which are placed 1920's style street lights, unique mailboxes and large stately hardwood trees. A true TND also features alleys, which provide for rear entry homes. Additionally, these beautiful neighborhoods feature spacious open green spaces and park area.
The second important facet of a Traditional Neighborhood Development is the authentic re-creation of the elegant and quaint architecture of the 1920's. We at Olde Stone have chosen to build what we call a classic southern colonial cottage style. The charming characteristics of this distinctive architecture include gracious front porches, columns and railings, balconies, shutters, dormers and attractive rooflines. Certainly it is costly to re-create this architecture as well as the traditional neighborhood streetscape, but we are dedicated to building a dynamic and one-of-a-kind community. It is easy to see why these exceptional communities have become so popular. They offer homeowners a combination of magnificent architectural style and unrivaled neighborhood surroundings, atmosphere and amenities, which combine to a one-of-a-kind lifestyle.
